Racial & Gender Equity Action Plans

Racial & Gender Equity Action Plans

In 2022, Mayor Eric Garcetti instructed every City department to prepare and submit Racial and Gender Equity Action Plans. Departments were instructed to develop feasible and data driven plans that are rooted in racial and gender equity that provide clear benefits and opportunities for historically marginalized people groups. To tackle the subtle discrimination in the workplace, LAFPP’s Racial and Gender Equity Action Plans will implement the following:

  • LAFPP employees and Commissioners are required to take DEI training to increase cultural and racial awareness, improve communication amongst culturally diverse staff, reduce subtle racism and discrimination, and improve relationships and knowledge for individuals of diverse races that have been traditionally marginalized. We are proud to announce that all LAFPP employees have completed the required DEI training.
  • Post Anti-Hate posters within common areas of the workplace.
  • Develop relationships with and make employees aware of non-profit and professional organizations that provide support to individuals of diverse racial groups who have been historically marginalized. These groups offer employment training, Civil Service test preparation, interview coaching, and educational scholarships to City employees.
  • Make employees aware of online resources provided by the Museum of Tolerance, which is dedicated to educating people on the Holocaust.
