b'MAXIMUM HEALTH INSURANCE PREMIUM SUBSIDY FOR RETIRED MEMBERSIn1974,votersapprovedaCharteramend-ment to provide a health insurance premium subsidy benefit for pensioners. Effective July 1, 2006, the Los Angeles Administrative Code4.1154(e) grants the Board of Fire and Police Pension Commissioners the authority to raise the maximum non-Medicare health insurance premium subsidy for retired members on an annual basis. The Board may raise the subsidy up to the lesser of 7% or the approved actuarial assumed rate for medical inflation for pre-65 health benefits for the fiscal year. Per the City Charter, the subsidy was previously linked to thesubsidyforactivemembersandretired civilians.ThemaximumMedicarehealthinsurance premium subsidy for retired members is equiv-alenttothehighestsingle-partyMedicare plan premium offered by the Los Angeles City Employees Retirement System.
